History & Mission
Our journey from humble beginnings to a thriving community organization
Our Foundation
ASSANGA’s story began in the 1990s when a small group of Angolans in Georgia started gathering informally to celebrate their shared heritage and support one another in a new land. These early meetings were filled with traditional music, shared meals, and stories from home.
As the community grew, it became clear that a more structured organization was needed to preserve Angolan culture, support newcomers, and create opportunities for the next generation. In 2006, ASSANGA was officially registered as a nonprofit organization.
Today, ASSANGA stands as a pillar of unity, cultural preservation, and empowerment for the Angolan diaspora in Georgia and beyond. We’ve grown from informal gatherings to a vibrant organization serving hundreds of families through education, cultural programs, and community support.
