ASSANGA Bylaws

The ASSANGA bylaws establish the framework for our organization’s governance, operations, and decision-making processes. These bylaws ensure that our community is served with integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Adopted in 2006 and last amended in 2023, these bylaws reflect our commitment to democratic governance and community empowerment.

Article I: Name and Purpose

ASSANGA (Association of Angolans in Georgia) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting education, cultural awareness, and social development within the Angolan community.

Article II: Membership

Membership is open to individuals of Angolan descent, those married to Angolans, and supporters of our mission who are at least 18 years old and Georgia residents.

Article III: Governance

ASSANGA is governed by an elected Executive Board consisting of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Spokesperson, serving two-year terms.

Article IV: Meetings

The organization shall hold an Annual General Assembly open to all members, with the Executive Board meeting monthly to conduct regular business.

Article V: Finances

All funds shall be used exclusively for organizational purposes. The Treasurer maintains financial records with annual audits presented to the General Assembly.

Article VI: Amendments

These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of members present at a General Assembly, with proposed amendments distributed 30 days in advance.
